My love of ABBA started in college when I first saw the low-budget breakout Aussie hit Muriel’s Wedding. It was Toni Collette’s first time acting on screen and she was absolutely brilliant. The soundtrack with nothing but ABBA and I was quickly hooked.

Fast forward a few years and the original Mamma Mia! debuted starring all of my favorite actors. I’ll watch Amanda Seyfried in anything, but learning she was an amazing singer was shockingly fun.

Mamma Mia! is on my list of “comfort movies” that I’ve since shared with my kids and they know of all the songs by heart. I would love to live on an island in Greece, run a hotel, eat Mediterranean food, and have dance parties at night. Who wouldn’t?!

Since that is obviously not my life at the moment, I can paint a collection that embodies what I feel when I listen to ABBA and watch Mamma Mia!: Oceans and sunsets. Metallic 70s jumpsuits. Sand and cocktails. An escape from reality.
